Scholarship

The CFGR has established the Bertram Scholarship to promote Canadian-based research on corporate governance and to build Canada’s governance research capacity by encouraging the next generation of young scholars. Each year, the Bertram Scholarship will support the most promising doctoral students who are researching governance issues at universities across Canada.

The award program is named in honour of Robert Bertram and was established by his friends and colleagues on the occasion of his retirement from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Robert Bertram is a visionary leader with a passion for finance, governance, and education. His leadership helped to propel the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan to international stature. He has been an instrumental figure in corporate governance across the country and in the establishment of both the Institute of Corporate Directors and the CFGR.
